Our very own Diocesan CHRISTMAS SONG
Catholic Family of 8 from Our Lady of Lincoln Parish, Lincoln, have written, performed and professionally recorded a song which will be available on iTunes and Amazon (£0.99) in time for Advent.
Christmas is Coming (Our Saviour is Born), is a song which promises to uplift people and bring hope in these strange times and despite the talk of Christmas being cancelled due to covid, Christmas IS Coming!
Euan (13) plays Cello and Trombone on the track, Leo (12) Drums and Violin, Pearce (9) Viola, Vincent (8) Violin and the youngest Edith & Micah (5&3) on glockenspiels. Mum, Fiona sings lead vocals and plays piano, while Dad, Mark, also took part playing the tubular bells adding to the Christmas feel of the song.
“We want the song to remind people of the real reason for the season, Jesus is our Saviour”. As well as spreading some good cheer, with every download The Braddish family will be raising money for March for Life. You can follow them on twitter & facebook for up to date information and photos @BraddishFamily
LISTEN HERE FOR A CLIP OF THE SONG:
Lyrics to the Song:
Christmas is Coming
He came down on earth
Christmas is Coming
Our Lady gave birth
And a Saviour was born
And our Saviours is born
It’s cold outside it’s winter time
Home inside all wam
Thinking of the ones I love
Babies unborn
Those who have hurt you
Those long gone
Those you wish to see
Where’s this love from?
He brings Hope
Wrapping gifts for family
Tying up the bow
Open our eyes to poverty
Let your love show
So much to prepare
So much to do
So much Love I have
It’s all for You
He gives Faith
Christmas lights all twinkling
Bringing so much cheer
Think of Baby Jesus Christ
Stop all this fear
Touch one another
Touch their hearts
Bringing together
Not apart
He is Love
HAVE YOUR SAY | How should the Government engage with faith groups in England?
The Bishop wants to encourage individual Catholics of our Diocese to respond online, to an open consultation on the way that the Government engages with all faith communities. On line submissions need to be in by 11th December.
"Colin Bloom has been appointed as the Faith Engagement Adviser at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to lead a review into how best the government should engage with faith groups in England.
This call for evidence will pose a series of questions around how those of all faiths, or none, perceive the government’s engagement with faith organisations. Because the review is specifically about faith and religion, priority will be given to responses that fit within those parameters. However, space is given for respondents to share their views in a way that they feel is appropriate.
Colin Bloom will make recommendations to the Communities Secretary as part of his review."

DIOCESE OF NOTTINGHAM | Preparing for Christmas
The Diocese of Nottingham are inviting you to join others from across the diocese in preparing for and celebrating Christmas.
https://twitter.com/Misson_DoN
Praying with Our Lady through Advent – We invite you to pray one extra Hail Mary each day in Advent, asking for Our Lady’s prayers to help all of us as a diocese, open our hearts and minds to welcome Jesus afresh this Christmas. She was the first person to welcome Him into her life and her intercession can help us to draw closer to Him and feel His presence with us anew this Christmas. Every other day you will be able to watch people from our diocese pray the Hail Mary in different languages on the diocesan social media sites, search for Diocese of Nottingham or Bishop Patrick McKinney on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
Living Advent Podcast – Living Advent is a weekly podcast series throughout Advent exploring the virtues of Hope, Love, Joy & Peace with people from across the diocese and how we can live them out. We speak to a young husband and father, a musician, a retired social worker and a police officer. You can find it on your usual podcast service by searching ‘Living Advent Podcast’ or visit www.dioceseofnottingham.uk/
Diocesan Carol Service – Carol services are a wonderful family tradition of our Advent and Christmas celebrations, and often are a great opportunity to invite those who are not regular Churchgoers to connect with our parish or chaplaincy community. This can be quite challenging to do this year so we are offering a virtual diocesan carol service. We will celebrate a short online carol service on Friday 18th December at 6pm on Bishop Patrick’s YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/
‘Being a disciple web series’ – January is a time when we try and work at being a better person, why not explore how we can be a grow as a disciple of Jesus? On the 4 Thursdays of January we will explore a different aspect of what it means to be a Catholic disciple with Brendan Thompson the CEO of Catholic Voices in a web series on Zoom. Catholic Voices are an international organisation that shares the Good News in the global media. This will be a great foundation for parishes, chaplaincies and individuals to explore how we can support each other in growing as Catholic disciples. Register for the series here: https://zoom.us/meeting/
